Mr. Jumpote Himacharoen, Director of Corporate Communications, Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) stated that as a state enterprise under the Ministry of Interior, MEA has always been ready to drive forward government policies regarding renewable energy under the household solar scheme 2022 to purchase electricity at 2.20 Baht per unit under a 10-year contract in accordance with the policy of the Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO).

The applications are reserved for residential electricity users who have installed solar rooftops in MEA’s distribution areas: Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan. Those who are interested may inquire for more information and apply at https://myenergy.mea.or.th. The project has been initiated to promote the use of solar rooftops among electricity users. However, to connect with the electrical system, electricity users shall submit for approval in order to connect with the electrical system and to install the equipment corresponding to MEA’s standards and shall be verified by MEA’s specialist officers for user safety and hazard prevention for MEA’s operation officers as well as electrical hazard prevention to ensure stability and quality of the power distribution system.

Currently, electricity users may install the solar rooftop power generation system to connect with MEA through the following two formats:

  1. To install solar rooftop inside buildings – electricity users of all types may install solar rooftops in parallel with MEA’s distribution systems to mainly generate electricity for residences, buildings, or premises without selling electricity back to MEA and shall submit your application form to connect with MEA’s electrical network for consideration in accordance with MEA’s rules and regulations regarding requirements for connection with electrical network systems, network system services, and network operations currently in use.

  2. To install solar rooftop inside buildings and to sell the remaining portion back to MEA under the household solar scheme – electricity users who have obtained electricity from solar rooftops under the category of residences shall be users type 1 in accordance with MEA’s rate announcement to install solar rooftops for self-use and to sell the remaining electricity back to MEA at the purchase rate of 2.20 Baht/unit within the purchase time of 10 years.

Those who wish to install a solar rooftop under MEA’s safety standards may inquire for more details at MEA Call Center: 1130 or notify us through social media platforms, Facebook: Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), Line: MEA Connect, Twitter: @mea_news, available 24 hours.
