MEA wins three awards for outstanding state-owned enterprise 2016, committed to be the international leading organization in electric power industry

On September 14, 2016, Mr. Chaiyong Puapongsakorn, Governor of Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), was handed the outstanding State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) awards 2016 by General Prayuth Chan-ocha, Prime Minister of Thailand at Bangkok Convention Center, Centara Grand at Central World. This year, MEA won three awards, namely 1) Outstanding Corporate Management, 2) Outstanding Social and Environmental Management, and 3) Consolation prize for Outstanding Innovation.
The Governor stated that, as one of the international leading organizations in the electric power industry, MEA has committed to improving the reliability of electric power systems and delivering better services with integrity and social and environmental responsibility through the integration of advanced innovation and the highly capable staff. Due to the organizational commitment, this year MEA has won three SOE awards:
1. Outstanding Corporate Management Award for its commitment to the development of staff, the development of work, the creation of Learning Organization, the innovation management, and the operations based on the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria.
2. Outstanding Social and Environmental Management Award for Energy Saving Building Project – a campaign to strengthen networks and increase awareness of energy saving in the office as well as to promote energy conservation for good.
3. Outstanding Innovation Consolation Prize for Field Force Management (FFM) – a system to help improve efficiency of MEA’s fieldwork staff to fix electrical problems quickly through effective connection with MEA Smart Life Application and MEA Information Technology Network.
The Ministry of Finance has annually conducted the SOE Awards since 2005. Its objectives are to publicize and announce to the public regarding outstanding performance of state-owned enterprise in various aspects and to raise standards of practice for the development of SOE as well as to increase motivation and operational efficiency for driving the country. Overall, there are nine categories of the 2016 Outstanding SOE Awards: 1) Excellent State Enterprise 2016, 2) Outstanding Board of Directors of State Enterprise, 3) Outstanding Corporate Management, 4) Outstanding Organizational Development, 5) Outstanding Corporate Leadership, 6) Outstanding Information Disclosure and Transparency 7) Outstanding Social and Environmental Management, 8) Outstanding Innovation, and 9) Outstanding Pracharat-State Enterprise.
