Concerning public safety, MEA donates crossing bridge’s rooftop to Department of Highways

On August 26 2009. Mr.Theera Atchariyasripong, Deputy Governor Operation has presented 15 million baht cheque to Mr. Tienchote Chongpeepien, Deputy Director General for Maintenance to Department of Highways (DOH) on the occasion of Crossing Bridge’s Rooftop Construction. Under this project, MEA has supported DOH to build up 20 rooftops for crossing bridges in which located close to high voltage power line on Bangna Trad and Praram II Road aiming to prevent pedestrian from unexpected danger that may be caused by public carelessness. For instance Holding over-long items or Installing advertisement billboard near high voltage power lines.

A Pride of MEA to Achieve 5 State of Enterprise Awards (SOE Awards) for the year 2009

On August 20 – At Centara Grand. As Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) Governor, Mr. Pornthape Thunyapongchai was graciously granted five State of Enterprise Awards 2009 from Mr. Korn Jatikavanich- Finance Minister. These includes Organization Management Honorary Award, , Outstanding State of Enterprise Board of Directors Award, Outstanding Organizational Leader Award, Outstanding Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility Award as well as Consolation Innovation Award. These awards reflect MEA’s commitment to provide excellence service to Thai community nationwide.

Community Service to commemorate Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday

On August 12 2009. Asst. Prof. Boonchai Sowanwanichakul, Board of MEA together with Mr. Pornthape Thunyapongchai, Governor and managements presided over the community service to commemorate Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday at 18 communities within Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samutrprakarn areas. The activities included electrical system check up, public light maintenance , tree trimming etc.

Ekarat Solar contributed Solar Cell to MEA

On August 7 2009 Mr. Pornthape Thunyapongchai MEA Governor had cordially received the solar cell system from Mr. Kietphong Noichaiboon, C.E.O of Ekarat Solar Co.,Ltd.. This research collaboration was conducted aiming to develop an optional renewable energy for electricity generation. As well as leading MEA to newly business in green solar power in the near future.

On August 3 2009, MEA had organized a corporate social activity at Srisangwal School, chaired by Mr. Suchart Sinyu, Deputy Governor, Mrs. Kannikar Akkapoo, Deputy Governor and Mr. Vichian Passarakul, Assistant Governor and welcomed by Mrs. Araya Arunanondhachai, President of Foundation for the Welfare of The Crippled Under the Royal Patronage of H.R.H. the Princess Mother. This year, MEA donated fund for student scholarship and educational equipments worth 400,000 baht. As well as sponsored lunch and entertainment to the students.

MEA shows confidence in the 1st half-year performance emphasizing on quality and customers’ satisfaction On July 31 2009 Governor of MEA, Mr. Pornthape Thunyapongchai had met the press and stated that MEA accumulately earned 3,000 million baht in profit and expecting 4,500 million baht at the end of this fiscal year. He further expressed his confidence in improving electrical system stability and reliability as well as excellent service in order to meet increasingly electrical demand and customers requirements.

MEA, HSBC, British Embassy joined hand on “The Bangkok Big Switch”

On Monday July 27, 2009 Mr. Pornthape Thanyapongchai, MEA Governor in association with H.E. Quinton Quayle, British Ambassador, H.E. Chris Bryant, Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Willie Tham, CEO HSBC Thailand and executive partners grantly presided over “The Bangkok Big Switch” campaign at British Embassy. This is to promote energy conservation and lowering carbondioxide awareness among Bangkok residents by awarding 1 million baht gifts to people who cutting down their electricity bill at the maximum percentage.

MEA granted Distribution System Management Certificates to Sudan
