MEA recommends taking precautions while using electricity to prevent fire

On October 21, 2019, Ms. Phasuk Sampunnachote, Director of Corporate Communications of Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), expressed safety concern over sudden weather change and frequent fires. If your electrical device is damagedpoor-quality, and unsafe, it may pose a fire risk.

or safety and fire preventionMEA advises all residents to inspect and monitor home appliances, electrical wires and plugs, making sure they are in good condition and safe. Iyou find a damaged item, get it fixed immediately. Always switch off and unplug your appliances when not in use. Avoid plugging too many devices in one outlet as it may be overheating and unsafe. Be careful while using electricity,especially heating equipment, it should be checked regularly - always switch off power after use and do not increase its temperature too high. Shut off gas supply after cookingNever leave burning incense or cigarette unattendedAppliances such as televisions andrefrigerators, allow some space from the wall for proper ventilationMake sure you have a standard fire extinguisher suitable to the size of your home and learn how to use it effectively.
