MEA signs MOU with MRTA to use MEA Samsen’s land for construction of MRT Sriyan Station - Purple Line

5 November 2018 27
Mr. Chaiyong Puapongsakorn, Governor of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), signed the MOU with Mr. Pakapong Sirikantaramas, Governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), concerning the use of MEA’s land for the construction of MRT Station - Purple Line from Tao Poon to Rat Burana (Kanchanapisek Expressway). The event was conducted on behalf of MEA and MRTA to endorse the use of land in the area of MEA Samsen Office for the construction of MRT Sriyan Station to provide commuting convenience and easy access to government services for the public and to increase economic values in the Samsen area.

MEA has been moving forward in driving Bangkok as a Smart Metro and consistently developing public utilities for the public while integrating with all other agencies, particularly MRTA, in pushing the construction of MRT in all directions to provide convenience for the commuters in Bangkok and its perimeter. MRTA has now been focusing on the construction of MRT Station - Purple Line from Tao Poon to Rat Burana (Kanchanapisek Expressway), a route connecting Nonthaburi, Bangkok and Samut Prakan – the provinces whose electricity is distributed by MEA. The MRT Purple Line also passes through the land of MEA Samsen. However, MEA is pleased and willing to share such land area for the construction of MRT Sriyan Station to provide commuting convenience with rapidity and less traffic congestion for Bangkok residents and to provide convenience for the local commuters living in the area who wish to contact MEA Samsen and the surrounding government offices while generating more economic values for the operators in Samsen District.

Besides providing land for the construction of such MRT Station, MEA has recently conducted the overhead-to-underground cable conversion projects along the construction of the MRT Yellow Line (Lad Phrao – Samrong), the MRT Pink Line (Khae Rai – Minburi) and the MRT Blue Line (from the foot of Rama VII Bridge to Tha Phra Intersection). In the future MEA will continue to implement the ongoing plans of MRT construction on various routes to help create Bangkok as ‘Smart Metro’.
