MEA assembles staff to fix the power distribution in no time to save the system from summer storm which knocks down 11 power poles on Chao Khun Thahan Road

On April 17, 2018 at 10.45 am, a violent storm caused numerous power poles out of ground on Chao Khun Thahan Road resulting in a widespread blackout. Mr. Wacharaphong Khantichote, Lat Krabang District Director of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) revealed that our officials immediately responded to the situation by directing the operations on site and coordinating with nearby MEA districts to assemble the staff to jointly solve problems for quickest supply of electricity. From the investigation, 11 power poles were uprooted. Nine of them were a 22-meter high voltage pole (for 115 kV transmission line). The others were a 12-meter medium voltage pole (for 24 kV feeder line) and a 10-meter low voltage pole (for 220/380 voltage). In addition, cars and houses were damaged – no reports of casualties and deaths. MEA has reached an understanding with those who suffered damage and provided them with information while reporting to the police for further process. About 1.22 pm, MEA could rectify the situation and distributed the electricity as normal in all areas. All uprooted power poles were removed and the relevant works were completed within that midnight. MEA apologized for any inconvenience caused.
